Hot Spring County Sheriff's Office Training Stats

Date Posted: 12/30/2025

As 2025 wraps up, we want to share some facts about training at the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Office.

Training has been popular topic lately, and we agree that it matters. The public deserves to know that our deputies work year-round to stay current, safe, and professional in the service of our community.

The State of Arkansas minimum continuing education requirement is 24 hours per year for certified law enforcement officers. Here's where our office stands:

Certified Deputies: 19

2025 Combined Training Hours: 1,723.5

Combined Career Training Hours: 20,918.5

This year, one deputy attended the police academy, completing 649 academy hours (included in the 2025 total). Excluding those academy hours, our deputies averaged 56.6 hours per deputy in 2025- more than double the state minimum.

Those hours reflect ongoing instruction in areas that impact day-to-day calls and community safety- legal updates, firearms training, de-escalation, leadership training, and other core skills. Meeting the standard is important; exceeding it is how we keep improving.

We're proud of the work our deputies have put in, and we appreciate the support of the citizens of Hot Spring County.
